Bikes and music

This is how it made RAC feel:

Friday night, we ate scrumptious Thai food and played games with folks from the lab. Saturday morning, S and I took a look at the upcoming calendar. Then we hopped on the BART and bus over to the Conservatory of Flowers at Golden Gate Park to see a Morris dancing performance, for which my housemate L plays the concertina. The dancers looked great in black-and-white regalia. My favorite outfit included a black vest decorated with googly eyes. We really enjoyed it when they danced to South Australia, which is a sea shanty we often sing on long bike rides. I also liked it whenever the dancing involved smacking sticks together.
We headed home at around 3, and then I set off to pick up groceries and do my daily lab duties. I came home for a quick dinner and then we biked up the hill through the Sunset View Cemetery and on to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley for RAC's choir concert, which was lovely.
This morning, I got up at 6 and had breakfast before heading over to the boatyard for quad practice with Serious Double and another rower. Ahh, quads are fun, and I was glad we had the chance to practice because it took the better part of the practice for things to gel. I'm now looking forward to racing the quad at the Gold Rush Regatta next weekend. It has made me realize I've acquired some bad habits by mostly rowing in the single, so I'm happy to take advantage of getting to row with good rowers who will put up with me and make good suggestions for improvement.
After that, I played the usual weekly Scrabble game with my friend S.
The afternoon was uneventful. I cleaned and organized the kitchen, swept the house, cooked a few things, and tended the crickets. All too soon it's going to be Monday again.
