I am in the airport, waiting for a connecting flight to Eugene, to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] dichroic and TP and row in the Covered Bridge Regatta tomorrow.

I was so happy to see snow-capped mountains as the plane reached the southern part of Oregon.

This place is dangerously tempting. I want to buy all the delicious beers and drink them all, but if I do I will miss my connection.

I managed to quilt another ant on the airplane. It looks much better than the first ant. Signs of progress. Also signs that this project might not take a full million years after all. Hooray/phew.

And now that he's received the package, I can squee about another sewn item. I made [livejournal.com profile] scrottie a pair of linen pajama pants, out of some fabric that was beginning to look like it had seen better days (because it had). I copied the pattern from an old pair of linen pants that I bought at a thrift store ages ago to wear in Costa Rica. They had nice buttonholes for a drawstring, so I took that as incentive to learn how to hand-sew buttonholes:

Button holes!

They aren't perfectly even, but I'm pleased with how they came out, overall. Knowing how to hand-sew is a useful skill.

Thanks!

No McMenamin's today, sadly! I've been to the one in Centralia, Washington a couple of times. DELICIOUS. Mmmm, yum.

I've been to Eugene briefly before, on a roadtrip up to Seattle from Arizona, with friends who used to live there. It seems like a great town, aside from the anarchists. ;^)

You must have remembered that my stripey pajama bottoms wound up looking like a costume piece from Shawn of the Dead. I think the only thing that prompted me to buy those originally was thinking "ooh, pretty pale stripey pajamas!" but they were nice for loafing about in on chilly days. I really have to be careful not to get too comfortable not getting dressed and turning into a complete hobo. At least college students get out of their house in their PJs regularly. Ahem. Thank you, they're lovely!

Yes, those were indeed the pants that inspired this creation. Plus, wanting to actually *do* something with my fabric stash.

If kept reasonably clean and un-rumpled, these linen pants can almost pass for non-pajama clothing. Keeping linen un-rumpled can be a pretty tall order, though. I originally got the fabric because linen is really good material to wear in warmer climates.
