All quite true! And said much more succinctly than so much of the blathering out there: "Lean this way, lean that way, have some cake!" :-)

More than anything, I'd like to be somewhere for long enough, with enough financial resources to get some good fruit trees and a garden going. There lies happiness. Teaching people and doing research are pretty satisfying, too.
