One more story

A friend of mine from Tempe Town Lake posted one more story, from back when we were preparing to go to the San Diego Crew Classic with Okie as our coach. As I mentioned below, we were a rag-tag group of strong-minded women, and it took a good coach (Okie) to figure out how to get us all to work together and row well. One morning, after we wrapped up practice on the water, Okie gathered us together and reminded us of a simple thing: take care of our own front yards, he said. If we all did that, the whole neighborhood would look nice.

I think anyone who was ever coached by Okie can still hear echoes of his voice and the things he said.
