rebeccmeisterAn advantage and disadvantage of going on vacation is that it provides an opportunity to take a break from routine.
Today I took the Jolly Roger over to a nearby bike shop to have the chain, rear cassette, and bottom bracket replaced. The last time I did that was about four years ago, back when I first started going on long bike rides and when I knew nothing about bicycle maintenance (I knew that one's chain should be kept oiled, but could not change my own tires). Those bits of metal have over 12,000 miles of wear on them. The bike will be back in action tomorrow afternoon.
I am hoping to buy a new saddle soon, too, as my current, three-year-old saddle is rapidly disintegrating. I am going to get a fancy one (leather Brooks B-17, probably the woman's version).
And now, I will walk home, and then head off to ceramics on one of my other bicycles.
