This foot injury is one that I believe results from overuse and too much pressure on the ball of one's foot. I have regular pedals on my bike and have been wearing tennis shoes, and did a heck of a lot of biking last week, so I'm not too surprised that my foot has flared up again. The interesting part is that the injury is pretty easy to mend--I just have to wear a piece of padding in my shoe in just the right place to relieve pressure on the injured part of my foot. I've been thinking it would be interesting to see if bike shoes would make a difference. I'm sure that I lose a lot of energy because my foot isn't well-attached to the pedal. But that's when I run into the problem that my bike isn't worth spending the money for better shoes/pedals because it's a steel-framed bike with mountain bike tires and it weighs a ton and I mostly use it for commuting purposes. Some day I will get a real bike. Some day...
