Even in Kyoto

Yeah, in this case the cairns were moderately helpful because the trail was pretty spotty. Unfortunately, just as the trail became extremely spotty, the cairns disappeared and we were left to our own devices!

But the nice thing about hiking along a stream is that the stream is a nice way to figure out where to go because there are only two possible directions: upstream or downstream. And since we came from the downstream direction, well...

Then the only obstacle was when one of the banks or the other would become really rocky and canyon-like, and we had to create our own trails. Heh.
