Merry Christmas! [status]
Dec. 25th, 2024 12:25 pmIf nothing else I hope it's a well-deserved day off for you.
scrottie has a lot of work and catching up to do, so I mostly spent the morning balancing my checkbook and getting my financial files organized.
In a moment I'll work on finishing the assembly of a fancy chocolate cake that we'll bring over to a friend's house for dinner. There will only be four of us, so most of the cake will likely end up in the freezer, and then I won't have to make any cake for my birthday in February.
So, a pretty quiet day around here. Which is fine.
I was very amused to receive a gift from my mom that initially looked like a box of Christmas lights. Totally festive! But then I opened the box, and it contained lovely warm Alpaca socks. Also wonderful!
Pretty soon I need to work on converting the fruit in the freezer into jam, which will be sent to some people but not others (ha!). Over time we have come to appreciate that we have friends and family members that either don't eat much jam, or can't eat much jam anymore. Fair enough - we shouldn't burden them with more.
Along with that, I want to write a summary for the year to send out with some form of holiday card. So far I've managed to get all of our roadtrip photos uploaded to Flickr. There are too many to include in a blog post.
I also need to replace Frodo's brake pads. Plus I need to arrange for an oil change for the car, and an initial consultation visit with the oral surgeon. I can't imagine either business is open today, so those are phone calls to make tomorrow. The ants will also need attention, so it looks like I'll be heading in to work then.
