Yesterday evening
scrottie brought George and Martha over to El Cerrito to try out some Cat Diplomacy with L and R's cats, Izzie and Cassie (partly per R's request, because she wants to learn how her cats do with socialization).
The cats aren't entirely pleased with this, but there have been some bright spots. I mean, this has allowed L and R to meet Martha and George, for one thing. Martha and George are currently confined to the (finished) basement, while Izzie and Cassie have the run of the upstairs. We made a temporary bed down here so that cats wouldn't feel too isolated, and after spending almost the entire night getting familiar with the space, they eventually settled down.
The catio was instantly popular.

And it turns out that Martha rather likes the wool nest that neither Cassie nor Izzie particularly cares for. There need to be more pet product exchanges!

Since we really didn't know how cat diplomacy was going to go, I didn't make all that many other plans for the weekend, aside from wanting to cook chili to feed to everyone.
But somehow or another, a cooking bender happened anyway.
For breakfast, I processed apples from R's apple tree that had bad spots and needed to be eaten, then turned the rest into an apple coffee cake that was enjoyed by everyone.
Then there's the chili, slow cooking in an Instant Pot. I'll make cornbread momentarily.
And then S set about working on the project of harvesting lemons off the Meyer lemon tree, while R did other garden cleanup and found 5-6 passion fruits that were ripe and ready. So shortly thereafter I made some lemonade and lemon-passion fruit curd. YUM!
Plus I am continuing my mission to clear out the fridge, which is why S and I had mushroom and chipotle paneer quesadillas for lunch. Not bad.
We're aiming for an adventure this evening. I'm kind of nervous but we'll see how it goes...
