Boat swap meet
Sep. 28th, 2024 11:16 amIt's not a real project unless there are at least 3 trips to the hardware store, right?
I biked out to Ballard yet again, to return the 2 unopened packs of crappy sanding discs. On my way back, I stopped by Fisheries Supply to check out the swap meet and exchange 3 boxes of the wrong sanding discs for 2 packages of better stuff.
One guy said the spring swap meet tends to be huge and bustling. The fall swap meet, not so much. Oh well.

I bought 3 more things than intended, 2 small stuff sacks because stuff sacks are useful, and an 8x10ft tarp because it was actually sturdy.
I did not buy any motors or this boat.

There was also a fundraising booth for the Sea Scouts. Too bad the Boy Scouts didn't go coed until I was well into adulthood. One of the volunteers commented that they have a Too Many Donated Boats problem. They apparently teach marine trades skills to kids, and go on expeditions throughout the year.
I'm thinking I will paint the outside of my new boat's hull, then varnish the inside. S has strong opinions about only painting up to the waterline on the outside, but that sounds fussy and I'm not sure that's the look I want to go for.
But here are some paint colors to choose from and debate. I will probably go with one of the whites?

Unrelated to anything else, I really appreciate the placement of this white gnome in this traffic circle. Traffic Gnome. I haven't yet verified if it's reflective or not, but I sure hope so.
