1. MC Grammar, a third grade teacher who puts reading and grammar and rapping together:

I love it when people bring themselves to their work like this, and engage with kids who might otherwise be reluctant learners.
2. The YuBoob Tube sends me in some interesting directions sometimes. Here is a channel run by someone who lives in the Midwest and is a cleaning specialist who clearly devotes a lot of time to helping out everyday people who have a whole lot of very real struggles. I especially appreciate his efforts to try and explain what OCD actually is as a disorder and why it's harmful to throw the term around as a substitute for saying "neat freak."

Also, the world needs people who can provide simple and basic instructions on how to do things like clean, especially from sympathetic people. I am still so glad that when I was in high school, our environmental club got a set of Green Cleaning kits, as my introduction to how to clean.
3. And now here are people in my community, who have organized and hosted a Chess "Peace" Day in our Malcolm X Community Park:

It has been tricky for me to figure out where and how to engage with my local community, but when I get back I definitely want to get more involved in activities over at the Radix Center. Somehow or another I also finally got onto a mailing list for the local library, that includes listings for library-hosted events. I think the challenge has been that some of the connection points I've tried previously have gotten really warped due to local politics (including the rowing situation!!). So it's necessary to really pick and choose where to put energy and effort.
