The rowers here are silly in different ways from my teammates in Arizona. They go for coffee once a week, instead of going after every single practice.

When I was in Tucson, I bought a gallon ziploc bag of freshly roasted Hatch chilis.

I was originally thinking about trying to mail these up to S, to stick in our freezer there. But the logistics for that started looking too complicated, so instead this weekend I made salsa from them, and canned the salsa:

I feel better about life now that I've had an opportunity to can at least one thing this year. We try to make and can things every year to give away as gifts, but that's harder to do when we aren't necessarily in the right places to get ahold of tasty fruits and vegetables at the right moment.
This is not the most amazing salsa in existence, but it's perfectly tasty.
The canning supplies here are...minimal...so this wound up being a pretty time-consuming project.
I managed to get in another bike ride with J this morning, too.

We rode from here up to the bike path that runs along Tempe Town Lake and the Salt River, out to Mesa to the Consolidated Canal, then down to downtown Gilbert where we stopped for breakfast:

This is a green chili "French toast" and was delicious, if a bit odd due to being served in a bowl.

Why does Mesa have these bike/ped crossing beg buttons for Tallbike riders? Are there that many tallbikes in Mesa?

Edited to add... Years ago in a bike shop somewhere, I encountered a self-published hot pink book about the canal system out here. I really, really wish I'd bought it.
Now I need to go check on the ants, and maybe also cook some dinner.
