This morning after strength training with rowing teammates, I rode over to Troy to visit the Troy Quick Shoe Repair shop.

What a spot!

Old Singer machines on display. Genuine waterproof rubber over-shoes for sale. The business of someone who knows their trade well.

The shoe repairman took a look at my 30-year-old hiking boots and said he could reglue the existing soles but wouldn't be able to put on new soles because of the sole design. I guess I don't hike often enough because the treads on my hiking boots are still in perfectly good condition. It would be fun to get another 30 years out of them, and I just might, because I really haven't been doing all that much hiking lately.

There are only two major challenges for this shoe repair place: if I then ride in to work, I have to ride up a real trudger of a hill. Related to that, this business is only open on weekdays. These are surmountable challenges, at least.

I just put in the phone call and placed the order for the Annapolis Wherry double kit. Yay!

Along with that, it sounds like the class has the minimum number of registrants to ensure that it will go ahead as planned. Whew!

And I also learned that although the original class registration and confirmation message included a long list of tools to bring with us, the Center for Wooden Boats has all the tools we'll need on hand, no need to run out and purchase a gazillion clamps! Double whew!

...I might still spring for a Japanese pull saw, though, heh.
