Officially Official [work]
Mar. 22nd, 2024 04:25 pmToday I got the final letter, the one that actually counts because it's ratified by our Board of Trustees: tenure and promotion to Associate Professor!
Earlier this week, I started reading a Careers column in the journal Science entitled, "How I lost and found my scientific creativity." It was comforting because it was written by someone who went through periods where he found that his academic work life had turned into more of an administrative position rather than a situation where he got to engage in a lot of creative problem-solving.
I go through parts of the year where I'm very much on the treadmill and where it's easy to get discouraged due to the lack of time and energy for scientific thinking. So I appreciated reading about someone who went through changes that took years and years across his career.
And so, onward. And by that, I mean onward to the insect room, to take care of the crickets and leafcutter ants.
