1. A big thank you to NPR for doing a wonderful job of writing about recent discoveries about why insects fly to artificial lights at night. This is just fun to read.

2. A bit about stingless bees and how they might be an important component of forest conservation efforts in the Peruvian Amazon:

For those who might be unaware, you should know that although "stingless bee" sounds nice and pleasant compared to all the spicy girls with the pokey stingers, these feisty ladies are also perfectly good at defending their nests using other means. They still have bitey mouths and will use them as necessary!

I also appreciate the connection with indigenous communities in this situation.

This has felt like a week of dealing with fussy things. The Animal Physiology labs by themselves are fussy, but when you add onto that things like calling the bank to make a large financial transaction, then making the large financial transaction, calling the bike shop to order a replacement wheel, and dealing with not just one but two big annual inspections in the same week, well.

I should be using today to work on intellectual projects, but honestly, my goose feels pretty cooked right now. We all know that we can't run at 110 percent indefinitely.
