Dear brain,
Jul. 14th, 2023 04:01 pmDo you think you could tone it down a bit with the anxiety dreams this week?
After all, adequate rest really helps when it comes to actually tackling the list of things that need to get done.
I do have to admit I'm kind of impressed by how you used the early-morning thunderstorms to conjure up a fantastical variation on the "house-decay" recurring theme. I'm also impressed by how you extrapolated from the Heavy Metal Kids' Bike to a version of a lifted truck that consisted of a bunch of cars stacked on top of each other.
Still.
I'm not sure I understand where you're coming from. Is it the approach of August and mentions of Zachary? (wow, 18 years ago, now.) That, plus gearing up to go to France again, with whatever emotional baggage that includes? Assembling materials for the tenure package and the attendant self-evaluations of progress or the lack thereof on various fronts? Feeling the impending arrival of the fall semester? Anxiety over the neverending Annals of Bike Maintenance due to my limited ability to maintain a smooth drivetrain? Rowing tasks still piling up endlessly?
...Oh.
I suppose we're back to: make a list, prioritize, and continue to practice saying NO.
--
Unrelatedly, I finally managed to catch another office mouse.

I will relocate this one well away from campus.

Time to go wash some cricket bins.
