Whew [rowing]
Dec. 10th, 2022 04:22 pmSo, we had the second annual Holiday Hustle today. That's a 6k erg followed by 5k "land" piece, followed by hot chocolate/etc.
I wasn't sure how things would go. Last year I prioritized the erg part, and since I've done exactly zero running since then, I figured I'd pour my energy into the erg part again this year, and hope to do at least comparably to my erg score last year.
It turned out well! This is the fastest I have ever done this distance in my entire life. Here's a cute photo from after, when I am clearly still slightly delirious from it all:

Now that the adrenaline has worn off, I'm in one of those states where there are a bunch of things I'd like to be doing, but I completely lack the motivation/energy to actually *do* any of them. It's easy to forget what it feels like to expend this kind of energy all at once.
It really is better to get off one's duff and keep moving around. But I just can't do it captain, I don't have the power!
Edit: Oh, also, as expected, I didn't win my category. I have a speedy teammate who is both a competitive rower and competitive runner, who zipped past me on the running part. That's part of what lets me pour so much creative energy into fun awards.
