The foliage around here right now is at its peak - brilliant reds, bright oranges, golden yellows.

I hadn't realized that some oak leaves will turn yellow before they turn brown and fall off. So that's fun. I'm also really amused by watching Virginia Creeper turn bright red on trunks, before the trees themselves change colors.

I'd love to learn the identity of some of the other trees that also tend to go bright red, aside from the classic maples.

But I don't really feel like making the time to try and photograph any of it. I keep considering it, and, nah. I'd rather just be out among it, enjoying the weather and the time while I can.

The big bicycling advocacy organization for the Bay Area in California is Bike East Bay. The funny thing about living in the Bay Area is, there are so many people involved in so many different facets of bicycling and bike advocacy that my general sentiment towards involvement often devolved to, "Meh."

I had a lot of other things going on while living there, anyway.

But! I did still very much enjoy the bike-powered music festival that one year, and also all of the Bike to Work Day stations, so we retained some level of connection to the greater endeavor.

In any case, apparently not too long ago, there was a Berkeley City Council meeting where someone got up and referred to the "Radical Bike Lobby" influencing some sort of policy or planning process. Perhaps related, you know, to the All-Powerful Bicycle Lobby.

In any case, someone took this phrase (Radical Bike Lobby), and, well, turned it into a t-shirt fundraiser. And, um, I mean, I pretty much have to buy one, right?
