Hubbub [rowing]
Mar. 19th, 2022 04:42 pmBusy morning down at the boatyard. Our club hosts a 5k running and walking race in the spring called the IceBreaker Challenge, where runners compete against rowers out on the Hudson River. Because reasons, I am helping to organize it. We're really looking forward to it this year, because last year in spite of developing an extensive Covid mitigation plan, our permit application was denied and we had pitiful virtual participation.
In any case, after our morning rowing practice (and coffee!!), I had a great time with K working to map out the course:

If anyone asks, I have no idea who did this.

Meanwhile, back at the boatyard, another crew of people worked on getting the JetFloat "bubble dock" assembled:

We put this dock in temporarily at the start of the spring, ahead of our main docks. What it means is that we can now get our boats launched on any days when the water temperature is above 40 and the combined air+water temperature is above 80. After a winter on the rowing machines, it's exciting to be getting back out onto the water again, finally!
Between the 3 x 4k erg pieces and walking the 5k course twice, I'm pooped! Which is kind of hilarious, compared to last weekend.
