The crush of days
Mar. 8th, 2022 01:00 pmRowing meetings continue to be ridiculous. Monday: ant care, lecture prep, phone calls about porta-johns, rec letter writing, lecture, office hours, exam proctoring, more rec letter writing, bike lecture prep, bike class, rowing meeting (member recruitment), home in light rain, attempt to sleep through gusty wind.
Tuesday: Up early to prep for labs, morning lab yakety sax, brief window for lunch, (anticipated: afternoon lab yakety sax redux, gulp dinner, rowing meeting (Board), home, sleep.)
(Wednesday anticipated: rowing coach meeting, to work, more rec letters, lecture prep, lecture, office hours, collapse? Grade exams and papers.)
I believe that there will just be 1 more week that is this ridiculous, in April. By May teaching should start to subside.
This is my fourth year involved in rowing club leadership. At the very most I will continue for 3 more years. In many ways we have made tremendous progress. It is still utterly exhausting, and when I finally step down I look forward to doing just the messing around in boats part of it all.
Altogether, students plus rowers creates a giant game of whack-a-mole for me.
