One of my rowing teammates really wants to get back to strength training, and is amazing at convincing people to do things, which is how I must have found myself leading a strength training session this morning. It was good motivation to finally sit down and figure out how to put together a basic strength training program, something I've needed to do anyway.
The first Animal Phys class was at 11 am. I sorta felt like I was doing a bit of "blah blah blah," but with the first labs tomorrow we'll have more of a chance to break the ice and get interactive.
Then we had the first Bicycling class in the evening, from 6-7 pm. 23 students registered for it, such that there was a waitlist. 13 students actually showed up. Predictable! 13 students is a reasonable number for the class; 23 students is not. With 13, we can fit in a better space for us all - the Animal Phys lab across the hall from my office, instead of the multipurpose fitness room tucked away in the back corner of the gym full of people breathing heavily without masks on in the name of New Years' resolutions*.
*Campus has a vaccination and booster requirement, but apparently no belief in/understanding of the "Swiss cheese" model of harm reduction. Wish me luck, because it's only that and my own KN95 between here and there...
