Soreness and surpluses [rowing]
Dec. 19th, 2021 11:38 amYesterday I managed to convince my teammates to join me for an erg/running relay event I named the "Holiday Hustle," that consisted of a 6k erg piece immediately followed by a 5k run.
...I did not manage to do as much running training as one should, so today I am quite sore.
We also had a small celebratory feast at the end. I called that a "Hot Chocolate Fest," but the star of the show turned out to be some extremely delicious Norwegian waffles prepared by a teammate - one of the best things I've ever eaten. I am sure that the time spent running in light sleet helped improve the taste.
As often happens, there was a surplus of food at the end. So I now have a half-gallon of cider and way too many mini-marshmallows, and could use suggestions on what to do with them if anyone happens to have any brilliant ideas. I can't exactly do those treats made with puffed rice right now, given my understanding of the current situation between the cereal manufacturer and its employees.
Although I took a bunch of photos, I've been scrambling to finish grading and to get ready for a big rowing meeting, so I'll have to post those later, or you can click on the photo below to venture over to Flickr if, for some reason, you can't wait to see photos of people on rowing machines.
