This time the emergency vet visit went much more smoothly. Instead of the trailer, I put Emma on the front rack:

Latest cat quaxing method

It's bumpier for her, but logistically so much easier for me than the trailer.

The same vet tech and vet happened to be working today, which was really helpful, given that this was a follow-up from our previous visit. Emma is now on two antibiotics and has a prescription for the high-fiber food that she responded well to from the last visit. Other triaditis diagnostic/treatment elements are currently on hold, as the vet pointed out that giving her a steroid would counteract the actions of the antibiotic.

I also had a chance to chat with the vet about my difficulties finding a primary vet around here. She was sympathetic and said she'd been having the exact same problem with finding a vet for dental work for a kitten she just got. So at least there's some awareness that the situation in this area isn't great for vet care right now. It is so frustrating, especially when you figure that I am going to have schedule gridlock when the semester starts next week.

She said the only place she'd found is one that's southeast of town, and which I believe is the same place where a rowing teammate of mine works. That place is a 17-mile bike ride away, as opposed to the 9-ish miles to the emergency hospital.

But at this point, it is what it is.

Hopefully Emma will eventually get used to bike rides in the cat carrier. Or I might have to try getting her a little vest and a basket.
