This week in Animal Physiology, we'll be studying the thermal physiology of breathing in fish and reptiles.

Which meant...another trip to the pet store!

Except, when we got there, we learned it was the last day the store would be open. Everything was 40% off!

They still had feeder goldfish, and exactly 4 betta remaining. They were out of feeder Anoles, at least, that's what the shop manager thought at first until she remembered there were actually two small ones left. The small ones who were left had names: Timmy, and Lemmy. I think she was glad to sell them to me because we'll be keeping them as something closer to pets than food. I'll miss the store manager - she's a good person. She'll go back to working at one of the other stores from this local pet store chain.

This year, I am going to ask the students if anyone would like to take a betta home. It's a shame to just have them living in a back room for most of a year. They should be enjoyed and given good attention.

Once we're finished with the goldfish, I'll move them to one of the tanks in the GenBio lab, where they'll have more space and better care. Apparently we pay someone to come in and clean those tanks for us, instead of the cleaning person being me trying frantically to fit in the cleaning every month.
