This year, the major manufacturer of rowing machines also began production of a "BikeErg." Ever since I started logging my meters on their website, I'd wondered about how they would count bicycling mileage, because it would be nice to have an all-in-one site.

Just today I noticed that they have a little notification saying that BikeErg mileage would count for half as much as rowing mileage. I think that seems like a generous arrangement for those using the BikeErg.

And maybe that's a sensible standard for considering cycling mileage/effort compared to rowing.

I took a number of days off from the Holiday Challenge over the last week or so. First, I was concerned last Thursday and Friday that I was starting to get sick, and I REALLY didn't want to be sick in the midst of a job interview. So I prioritized sleep over erging. Then there were the three days for the interview, plus a late-night return on Tuesday that meant no time to erg Wednesday morning. Our lab had its holiday party Wednesday evening, so that was out as well, and we were up late enough that I didn't have time Thursday morning, either. But now I'm finally feeling like I'm back in the saddle on that front, having cleared the 100k mark with 16 more days to go.

No matter what, this point always starts to feel like a slog. One day at a time.
