Getting things done

Three and a half years in Texas has left me pleasantly surprised every time I learn that a business is open at convenient hours. The post office is open by 7:30 am, not 9:30-4 pm. The department of licensing also opens by 7:30 am, as does the bank. The grocery co-op is open from 8 am until 9 pm, every day, not 9-6 on weekdays, 10-4 on Saturdays, closed Sundays. I can actually do things without cutting into working hours and nonexistent vacation time. I could get groceries on Monday night, after getting back in town at 5:30 pm.
