Computering, updated
Jun. 20th, 2013 06:53 pmAfter contacting a collaborator, I learned that ShardTracker has been replaced by BioTrack, which, conveniently enough, can open and analyze .mov files (rendering my morning spent converting an .mov to an .avi moot).
I also learned that our lab has a Dell that has been intended for purposes such as this one, with the one caveat that it not be connected to the internet. Installing Ubuntu, as suggested on the BioTrack wiki, was pretty simple and straightforward, and the guys who created BioTrack sure have put together some nice, pleasant documentation (great videos illustrating key aspects of the program!).
Now to see if it can analyze the demo video we took on Tuesday...
And you know, I'm grateful for a chance to spend more time with Linux. Almost makes me like PC's, but that's probably because I don't have to muck around with much complicated stuff.
