Figuring out how to work this
Sep. 11th, 2012 08:52 amI was dead tired when I woke up this morning. Tuesday mornings are supposed to be team workouts, and it's pretty terrible to miss them, but I needed the sleep. Having a job is also important, after all.
There's a lot for me to juggle right now, though I should note I prefer being busy over not having as much going on (see: summer). I've got the current experiment I'm running, which is pretty labor-intensive, sample-processing from the previous experiment, and writing for these projects plus dissertation manuscript revisions.
For crew, we've got an erg marathon coming up on Saturday. Part of me feels nostalgic about this erg marathon, because it brings back memories of previous erg marathons, from the very first one where I was happy just to finish, to the most recent one, held in a Crossfit gym in Tucson. The best thing I ever watched during an erg marathon was Hidalgo, which we watched during the first one. The worst was the last one, where our entertainment consisted of a gym rat doing as many headstand pushups as he could. No thank you, sir. Though that year was still easier than the year it was just myself and K, in my living room.
Along with that, juggling coaching and rowing is going to be a balancing act. I knew this, going in, but I haven't gotten my feet underneath me, yet. Tonight will wrap up our recruitment activities, which should help, although practices are going to be more of a zoo with all of the novices coming on board. I just have to keep my head down and keep working away at everything.
