(title is in reference to a business near here called "Truck Riggins")
I worked on re-rigging the 1x this morning. Took care of oar adjustments, spread, and resulting changes to foot position, but I need to refresh my memory on pitch adjustments (which will be needed). Of course, the water was gorgeously flat, so I only got out for a very, very short test row. [It's a well-known fact that if there's something logistical preventing you from rowing, the water will be perfect.] Getting the oars, spread, and footstretchers set already feels AMAZING. Once the pitch is set, everything will feel pretty well dialed in. And then, oh, the excitement! I'll get some new wear plates on the oars (only shards of plastic remained of one), and I'll start working on aesthetic and structural repairs to the shell (I found a big gouge in the fiberglass when I relocated the footstretchers...most stuff is cosmetic, but the whole thing is, well, old and a touch floppy).
In not-so-good news: I thought the coaches had registered me for the Women's Open 1x race. I was wrong. ARGHGHGHGHGHHGH. That will be the last time I make that mistake. Maybe I'll be able to squeeze in an entry, maybe not. There are 5 boats in the race so far, and one is from the pre-elite training camp in Oklahoma, so it could be a really fast race, making me a little fish in a big pond (especially given that I haven't gotten in much training time in the 1x).
