On My Mind
Dec. 15th, 2011 01:36 pm-Gotta finish up those meters for the annual Concept2 Holiday Challenge. I felt a bit off on Tuesday, so I took the day off from erging. To make up for that, I put in 26 km last night - it took about two hours. It has been quite humid here, so I dripped sweat for that whole two hours and acquired new chafe-marks on the tops of my quads from my shorts and right in front of an armpit from a sports bra. That one reminded me of the horrible chafe-marks I used to get when training to run a marathon, from wearing ill-fitting sports bras. Highly unpleasant.
-Gotta get Christmas presents finished and mailed off. It seems like this project keeps dragging on forever. A couple of things need finishing touches and then they will be ready to go. I'm hoping I won't have to pack too much stuff for this trip to California and Seattle.
-My crickets made babies! I'd been concerned about my ability to get the next generation of crickets started, for experiments in January. Last night, I found the first set of hatchlings. They are wee (the size of the head of a pin), and to me they look cute. You might disagree, but I'm grateful that I've learned to like them. Now I just have to make sure they're squared away while I'm out of town...and I probably need about 10 times as many cricket hatchlings, total.
-I'm going to ride in a 122km brevet on Saturday. Hopefully all the erging won't exhaust me too much before the brevet.
-I had a good meeting with SB yesterday about a paper I'm writing up. Now I just need to get back to work on it, and keep working away on revisions to Diss Chap 1 as well.
-I also need to take some time to sand down the doors and figure out how to turn them into good-looking, useful things. Where does one go to get custom-size pieces of glass with beveled edges?
