...cleaned the litterbox (oh joy!), re-potted the Meyer Lemon tree, planted a bunch of onion starts and another strawberry plant (impulse purchases), and took the recycling over to the "Drive-In Recycling Center." The guys at the recycling center declared that I was the first bicyclist they've seen. They were highly amused. If I bring over my recycling once a month and get my utility bill stamped, I'll eventually get a month off of my trash charges. Which would be nice, when you consider that I haven't had to take out the trash even once in the month and a half I've been living here. You're welcome, City of Bryan.

I also arranged for care for my kitty while I'm out of town.

And I met up with DC so he could give me a kind of crazy present - a spare Selle Anatomica saddle! It has an interesting back story: apparently DC knows a guy who used to be a parts supplier for Texas and Louisiana bike shops. One day, while visiting a shop in Louisiana, the owner asked if this guy wanted the Selle Anatomica saddle that had been sitting in his shop, unsold, for two years. Sure, the guy said, how much do you want for it? "You can have it for free," the owner replied. This guy, knowing that DC is a fan of Selle Anatomicas, passed it along. But DC says he's already got the Selle Anatomicas he needs. So, what the heck, I might as well try it out. I kind of wonder - if it doesn't end up working for me, either, maybe my dad could use it...

I met up with DC at one of the local bike shops, BCS Bikes. BCS Bikes makes Tempe Bikes look like a deluxe shop. Kind of a depressing sight to behold. I did find a version of my favorite rear bike light for sale, though. I'd given up on ever finding it again. I don't think I'll be buying yet another rear bike light at the moment, unless I get fed up with having to juggle AAA and AA batteries. As silly as it seems, it was so convenient, back in the day, to only have to carry AA batteries. I could stay on top of which batteries were charged and which were not.

Tonight, I am hoping to dive back into work. Too much to do before I head off to AZ...

You can click through for larger versions and captions. I finally have to put my charming rainbow windsock out of its misery. The edging has disintegrated and the plastic backing is breaking as well. I've had that thing for years, twirling away in various gardens. Ah well.

The wind whirlygig has spent too much time in intense sun. Re-potted lemon tree
I think the tomatoes have doubled in size. Bushy basil
What's this? An eggplant?! Squirrels are my gardening arch-nemeses
Set in some onion sets.
