To do list

Woke up this morning with my list of things to do looming large in my mind. There are some things I don't think I'll get to before I move, like cleaning and selling the road bike and its plastic case. I think it is going to wind up going to Texas with me, where hopefully I'll take the time to clean it and get it ready to sell. I'm not in a huge hurry to sell it, but it needs to get done. Funds from selling it should go directly into a pool of money set aside for future sporting goods purchases (custom bike that fits me and is easier to transport, ergometer, rowing shell(s)).

Purchase washer. There are many washing machines for sale in the greater Phoenix area. My new home doesn't have one. It would be easiest to transport one now; there are some machines available in/around College Station, but I should take care of this project sooner rather than later. I think this will get finalized on Wednesday, right before I pick up the moving truck (Thursday morning).

Thursday's itinerary is going to look something like: pick up moving truck, pick up barrel of gardening supplies, load up office supplies, load up belongings from storage, load up stuff at S's house, eat dinner with S, drive over to K's house. It's going to be another series of marathon days, no matter how I slice it.

I'm not sure, yet, if I'll have the time/inclination/money to get the cooler that I want, for the sake of transporting any cold items. One way or another, I should bring along at least some food/snacks for the drive.

Pack up the office. I will be taking some samples with me, plus some ant colonies, plus a whole lot of academic papers and textbooks. I suspect that most of these materials will wind up staying in the house, this time, rather than living at school. I don't know if I have enough boxes around. I need to scan in a few last datasheets. I think I'm out of time for running samples, at the moment, but I have plenty of data to work with. I should put together a sheet that lists all of the samples I've left in the lab, where they have been left, and what my plans are for them. Also, a log describing the history of the leafcutter ant colonies staying in the lab.

Rewrite the List of Things to Acquire. I sold my old desk when I moved out of the Farmer House, because I hated it. It was too shallow and had an irritating pull-out keyboard tray. I'm looking for something very specific in my next desk, something that looks very much like this:

This was a writing desk at the house where we stayed in France. My parents own a similar writing desk they purchased from an antique shop in Seattle, so I know that more than one exists and they aren't just in Europe.

If I can't afford or find one anytime soon, I should acquire a second, two-drawer filing cabinet and an old door or similar-sized piece of wood. But this is all neither here nor there; I won't know the extent of the list until I'm better situated in the next space that I will occupy for some period of time.

I suppose I could spend the next three days doing a lot of running around. I'm inclined to try and save some energy for the move, instead.
