Packing, Day 2
Aug. 4th, 2011 09:46 amBy the end of the day yesterday, it was starting to really sink in: in a few more days, I am going to be homeless.
I finished packing up my bedroom yesterday, and started in on the kitchen. The kitchen...let me just say that I have been living in one place for long enough to have accumulated a whole bunch of miscellaneous food items, which are now going to come back to haunt me. You know, packages of Bob's Red Mill (and it's always Bob's Red Mill) potato starch. AND potato flour. Sorting out spices is going to be pretty insane, too.
The boxpile is growing. I need to spend some time today deciding what I'm going to do with them for the ~1.5 months before I can settle in in College Station. The options to check out: storage unit, bum off of friends, get some POD-type things lined up, or light a very large fire.
My approach to wrapping up ceramics might seem a little odd. I have so many ceramics that it would really be okay if some things break during the move. I don't want to intentionally break anything, mind you, but if it happens it won't be the end of the world. So things are getting wrapped up in layers of t-shirts and stowed. Have I also mentioned that I hate packaging? That extends to typical packing supplies. It is much more entertaining (though, admittedly, chaotic) to unwrap things that have been wrapped up in socks or t-shirts.
Another exhausting day. I think it's going to take me about 2 more days to get the bulk of my stuff wrapped up, assuming I can track down more boxes (and thank you,
trifold_flame, for the tip - haven't been over there yet, but will probably go today).
