What a whirlwind
Jun. 17th, 2011 02:47 pmI do actually think I might've come over the crest, here. Went over my talk with my advisor, and I'll be changing it around extensively, but that's all straightforward.
I also talked to my potential postdoc advisor, and got great news from him - he got an NSF grant, so even if our fire ant grant doesn't come through, I'm number one on the list for the postdoc money in the NSF grant. It would really be better for everyone if we got the fire ant grant, but the added job security is nice. He really is a great person to work with. The thought of College Station is still kind of intimidating, but I feel like I could give it a try. If I could handle Arizona, I feel like I can handle a lot of other places as well, especially with the thought that such places aren't permanent moves (though there's always a part of me that wants to ask how I feel about the impermanence of it, and which isn't satisfied with it). I think I'd need to bring
scrottie out there to at least give him a feel for what it's like - that's one of the harder things to figure out. How do we know, unless we try?
