The Big Day
Feb. 11th, 2011 04:46 pmWow, new day, new decade. I just turned 30. The biggest thing about this is that it means I can race in the Master's category in the Head of the Charles this year, assuming that we get an entry in. Yep, still measuring my age by the rowing calendar. That should be more motivation to get out on the water! The rowing doldrums continued this morning - K texted me, but I had failed to get a good night's sleep anyway. It's hard to get back in the habit if one has been out of the habit for a while.
I'm not normally inclined to do this, but I have to say that my loved ones gave me some wonderful gifts this year. I am grateful. I mean,
scrottie gave me a whole pound of salted butter. And some awesome solar-powered LED lights to put on my bike, and a wonderful card. Now I just have to make time to install them, plus the other lights from Christmas, heh. Boy am I behind on bike maintenance. My parents gave me some awesome socks and some gorgeous camel-hair yarn from the snow leopard trust (they have some wonderful things), plus a cool card that walks through and celebrates the history of the universe. S's mom gave me sweet set of knives. Chopity-chop! Oh yeah, and then, in case that wasn't enough, my brother and his wife sent along some really cool ink pads to play with. Now I just have to find time for more crafty crafts...no problem, right?
Altogether, wow. You know, life's pretty amazing. And who knows where the next decade will take me?
