Nov. 24th, 2010 09:58 amSometimes I have so many things floating around in my head that it's hard to focus on any given project. Usually, if I write them down, it helps. A sampling:

scrottie and I will be visiting Seattle from December 23-January 6. While we're there, we'll spend some time out in eastern Washington, and I'd like to get in a skiing trip as well. If I can, I also want to make it to the University Farmer's Market. But if I recall correctly from last year, things pretty much shut down right before Christmas. So we might not make it to the big market. Plus, annikusrex and I have tentative plans to make candy and chocolate on Christmas Eve, which means I should try to remember to bring some figs up with me. We'll also try to make some time to visit friends and go skiing. Plus, I'm hoping to get in some solid chunks of time to work on S's argyle leg-warmers, while we travel to and fro. So it will be a busy trip. Oh yeah - and I'll have to decide what updates I want to make to my mom's bicycles, this time around. Better brakes for the Blue Devil, methinks.
Gift-giving: This one always causes me an excess amount of consternation. I got very little feedback about handmade things from my family, which means that I didn't have the time or wherewithal to make much. Handmade items have to be made early; they don't work well as last-minute items. Which means, well, argh. Pretty much.
School: This one is getting difficult. I need to finish my first chapter. The Manuscript of Doom II: The Sequel was submitted to one journal, and rather promptly rejected, so it's back in the hopper. I need to get project ideas squared away and proposals written up. There are a couple of books and articles that I need to read and absorb and ponder, and as usual I'm constantly thinking about the philosophy behind my scientific career (namely, what's the use, why do it). Plus, there's a scientific conference in mid-December.
Household projects: I want to build a pvc cold frame to cover the main garden section. I also have to get ready for the Tour de Coops on December 4 (my coop is part of the tour! Better make the backyard look respectable!). I have a couple of ceramic items that need to be painted with stains and underglaze, which involves sitting still for a couple of hours. And I want to pick up some miscellaneous items at a thrift store (lots of forks, and some sweaters). I should also shop for some slightly nicer clothing one of these days. Oh, and get some sewing and knitting projects in order. Plus, there's that whole baking list I posted a few days ago (and I need to add krumkake to it). And it's time for an expedition up to Souvia.
Oh yeah, and the Concept II Holiday Challenge starts tomorrow.
