Busy busy busy busy
Aug. 30th, 2010 09:30 amOn Saturday morning,
scrottie and I drafted up a list of projects to work on. And that's pretty much what we did for the rest of the weekend. There was a monsoon in there somewhere, where I accidentally left my phone in a pocket where it got very, very wet, and died. Other than that, the rain was fun. I was a bit nervous about it, though, because I was also transporting a full tank of propane in the bike trailer in the rain. If anybody has thoughts or ideas on better methods of propane transport when one's transit options are limited, I'm all ears, by the way.
I also took S to IKEA for the first time, ever. I always think of
gfrancie's commentaries about IKEA whenever I go there for a visit. She captures the feel of the annual IKEA extravaganza well. S and I both bought ourselves some cheapo storage shelves called Gorm. Then we proceeded to use the word excessively.
We also made a big batch of fig preserves, from all of the figs that S had collected off of his landlords' fig tree and frozen. We might have the canning fever, just a bit. Now I need to do something more with the rhubarb in my freezer, maybe next weekend while S is traveling.
We also got the bike chandelier all set up and glowing. It looks amazingly shiny. And we made some progress on miscellaneous small projects, but it always seems like there are more projects than there's time to complete them.
And this week is going to be busy at school. I need to get postdoctoral fellowship applications lined up, I need to analyze the elemental composition of a bunch of samples, and I need to get a chapter introduction and Methods section drafted before a meeting with my advisor on Thursday. I suppose I should be grateful to be busy and not bored.
