Morning Optimism Springs Eternal
May. 17th, 2010 04:42 pmI didn't sleep very well last night, so I was quite groggy when the alarm went off at 4:12 am, and decided to cancel rowing. I subsequently decided that in the window of time between schoolwork and Scrabble, I'd do the following:
-go to the gym and erg
-ride to someone's house to pick peaches
-cook dinner for the Scrabble Society
Sometimes, my levels of optimism are just too cute. Hopefully I won't chastise myself too much for failing to do everything all of the time. It wasn't an especially busy weekend, either. I feel like the break did me some good, given that I'm back at that point where I'm coming up with new plots and schemes again, finally.
Through the course of the day, I discovered that the peach-picking destination is in southern Tempe, meaning it's a three-hour expedition instead of the one-hour expedition I'd imagined. By now, the expedition to the gym will cut dinner-prep time too short. That's what I get for getting engrossed in science. Well, that's an oversimplification. I've spent the afternoon trying to get started with new statistical software, which is always painful and time-consuming. Hopefully this time I'll settle in for real and will stop switching around.
