Bluh.

I had a fun morning this morning, wending my way around the Phoenix Mountain Preserves with J, R, and S. This was a repeat of the 55-mile ride that J and I did last fall, minus the farmer's market section and the section where we rode along a spillway. We were pleased to reencounter the Rainbow Donuts shop, and the sections along the Arizona Canal.

After that was said and done, I headed in to school to tend to some of the poorly-faring colonies that have been suffering from neglect for some reason or another. Poor ants--they deserve a better caretaker, but none exists. Got some of that taken care of (pouring plaster into petri dishes and painting fluon--an anti-stick substance), and then I dove back into the Anatomy and Physiology miasma.

I hope I'm making enough of an inroad so I don't go utterly insane trying to run this experiment and teach at the same time. I made good progress on muscular anatomy, thanks in big part to the work of another TA, so most of what remains is neural anatomy, the eye and ear (these two generally a cinch), and a couple of physiology labs. Plus re-writing quiz questions and revising the last two practical exams. Hence the "bluh."

Yesterday I rediscovered the Miracle of the Old Tennis Ball. Back when I was having foot problems, my mother recommended using an old tennis ball to stretch out the tendons on the sole of my foot. It worked fantastically well, resolving a lot of the issues I'd been having with metatarsalgia (inflammation of the distal end of the metatarsal bones--basically, the ball of one's foot). Well, amidst the other reading on rhomboid rehabilitation, I remembered reading a suggestion to use the good ol' tennis ball as a back muscle massage aid as well. Turns out, it works fantastically well. And I love the fact that it's a dirt-cheap solution.

Time to eat some food.
