Well, I think my shoulder is doing better, overall. I haven't iced it in the last couple of days because it hasn't bothered me enough to need icing. But it has been feeling on-and-off for a few days now. That's better than constant pain, but it's hard to know how to proceed when the discomfort is intermittent/unpredictable and moving around. After a couple of hours of staring through the dissecting scope yesterday*, my body wasn't exactly happy with me. This version of "not happy" was closer to the sensation of insanity that I get after staring through the dissecting scope for too long, rather than other forms of it.
And then I went to ceramics for a while, to work on a set of teapots**. I was worried that throwing would be really painful, because I tend to hunch over the wheel a bit too much, but it felt fine. Probably because it doesn't require any pulling motions.
I also did some extremely minor rhomboid-strengthening exercises yesterday, and feel absolutely nothing today. I think I'm going to have to persevere with this sort of activity through the rest of the week with gradually increasing weight/resistance, before I can let myself think about rowing again. It has only been a week since my last attempt, but I miss it terribly, both for the feel of it and for the excellent company, and.... It seriously keeps me sane, and additional long bike rides just don't fill that void.
And with that, back to science.
*extracting larvae from fungus--I don't think I can quite photograph that, but maybe I can find some old pictures so you can get an idea.
**I now know that it's not a good idea to make three teapots all at once, no matter how feasible it seems at first. I managed, with a lot of help, to get 2 out of the 3 all trimmed and put together, and hopefully the third one will get finished up on Thursday, along with a bunch of other trimming and some assorted glazing. Yeah. I might have gone overboard in ceramics this time around, but with any luck, I'll have some cool pieces by the end.
