Imagination
May. 3rd, 2009 10:26 amToday is one of those days when it seems like it would be more fitting to post an image than to write a narrative. But I don't have the resources to do so at the moment.
I've been experiencing incredibly strong urges to do things like work on the garden and on my myriad craft projects. The urges were strong enough that I squeezed in some time yesterday to fuse some plastic bags into plastic fabric to construct a container for all of the bicycling accessories that have been jostling around in my handlebar basket for the past couple of months. My basket looks much neater now--fusing plastics is a nifty way to downcycle old plastic bags. Now I just need to make some final adjustments to my most recent skirt-sewing project, finish arm-warmer number two, and keep on top of all of the ceramics projects in the works. Plus there's that watercolor study of Portage Bay that has been neglected for months, and all of the gifts I'd like to make for all sorts of people...Hmm, yes. Better to be too busy than not busy enough, right?
I also took time to make "ocean cakes" for a Crabby Party--the recipe was from the Cafe Flora cookbook, and contains no dead-animal ocean products, only seaweed for a mere hint o' the sea. I cannot eat tasty sea animals on account of knowing too much about the costs of eating them. [I had to really hold my tongue when the subject of tuna came up] The ocean cakes came out deliciously, thanks in good part to the ready availability of fresh herbs. Thank you, herb garden of awesomeness. I won't have time to cook today, on account of bicycles, bicycles, bicycles, and more bicycles (namely, volunteering at the co-op, updating TBAG's finances, getting TBAG's tax and business status straightened out, and THEN a board meeting). I think I will need to be careful about budgeting my time around things that are important to me. Bicycles threaten to take over. That's okay to some extent. Some extent.
