My newfound (re-found) enjoyment makes me even more nervous about the general financial collapse of newspapers, given that there isn't really a good alternative news source in any other form. The closest thing I've found is actually the Slog, which has been good about providing both diverse stories and summaries of critical news headlines. I wonder if it's going to be one of the more successful business models for news providers. The Daily Show/whatever will never do it for me--I just don't like being a captive audience of that sort, which is why I never watch TV, let alone TeeVeeNews.
If only there were a Slog-AZ, so I could keep up better with AZ news and politics.
One of other nice parts of returning to reading the paper is that it gives me a much better context for the events of my own life. I am incredibly grateful to have the products of news-gathering expertise available at my fingertips.
