Things not discussed in polite company
Aug. 4th, 2008 08:24 pmRacy title, less-racy subject matter. I have pretty much fallen completely off of the financial record-keeping bandwagon this year. So it's time to reestablish good habits without berating myself too much for the bad habits. I kept up the good habits for quite a long time, but life got the better of me this spring and summer.
It's amazing how much of my personal stress comes from neglecting to keep my financial records up-to-date. It's going to take a little while for me to take stock of my situation, but then hopefully I can get things back on track.
I'm making this sound a bit more dire than it actually is--I still have a small cushion to work with, which is more than I'd had in the past. It's not much, but it will have to do.
Here's the thing: if I am not painstakingly careful about tracking every penny that I spend, I spend everything that I earn. Knowing this tendency is useful, but keeping up the good habits is clearly still a challenge.
