Yesterday a scientist and photographer named Alex Wild came to ASU to take photos of one of the ant species that's kept in our neighboring lab. As a part of his visit, he also shared some of his tips and tricks for insect photography with us, and in the process I learned that he has a blog as well. Hurrah, another procrastination tool! He is one of the best, if not the very best, ant photographers in the world. It's funny to go to scientific meetings and note just how many presentations use his photos (with permission, of course).

Actually, one of the coolest parts of the blog is that it's a chance to browse through his ant (and other) photos gradually, instead of being overwhelmed by them all at once. Every time I have a chance to peruse, I'm always amazed by the incredible diversity of ants, and the beauty of insects.

Here's another blog with ride reports and photos from the north rim of the Grand Canyon and also STP. Due to intervening events, I haven't managed to get my act together to write a ride report for the STP, and I suspect I never will. However, this site provides several other multimedia ways to vicariously experience the events, including an audio blog, which certain parties will find hilarious.
