Adventuration
Jun. 16th, 2008 08:35 amSaturday, 5:30 am: Woke up, got ready, hooked up Kirby (bike trailer) to the Jolly Roger (bicycle), and rode up to the Urban Farm in north-central Phoenix
8 am: Attended jam-making and canning workshop at Urban Farm. Learned all the little coordinating details that the books just weren't showing me.
10 am: Started getting kind of warm, so I left the workshop a bit early (sadly, this might mean I missed out on a chance to make prickly pear jam, but hopefully I'll be able to collect some fruits in August)
10:30 am: Reached the farmer's market, ran into a whole bunch of people, bought some foods, including delicious teeny-tiny apricots (slightly larger than cherries), and ate some poffertjes (Dutch term for Aebleskivers).
11:00 am: Rode home. Thermometer on the Jolly Roger reads 47 degrees Celsius, which is 117 degrees Fahrenheit. Summer has officially arrived.
12-onward: Puttered around the house (though I still think I tend to potter more than I putter), tinkered with the Jolly Roger's rear rack, tinkered with my new bike basket, visited the grocery store, ate food, went to a party
Sunday, 5 am: Woke up, got ready, rode around Mummy Mountain with friends (steep, warm, but not nearly so warm as the day before).
10 am: Friends over for brunch! We'll need to do this more often. I'm thinking a waffle party is up next.
3 pm: Trip to the Ace hardware store for worm bin supplies and canning supplies (it's perhaps a bit dangerous to have storage space and a yard, for I'm acquiring a lot of stuff).
4 pm: Made apricot jam and canned it (hooray, success at last!).
5 pm: Trip to the Home Despot for lumber for worm bin.
7 pm: Trip to the Bike Saviours to paw through their reflector supply for an upcoming project (outcome will be photographed).
8:30 pm: To bed.
