It has been a weekend of projects and the like. Saturday morning, I rode over to the farmer's market, which was nice as usual. It's starting to get a bit hot, though, so I brought along a cooler in the bike trailer. It seemed to work quite well.
I then hosted a crafternoon, which was a pretty quiet affair, but a good opportunity to box up a few packages I've been meaning to send and apply some decals to some cups. Afterwards, R, L, and I made red lentil curry burgers and ate chocolate cake.
I tried to sleep in this morning, but my room gets light really early and my cat decided to administer affection to herself by using my hand at 5 am, so my efforts were somewhat for naught. But it was good to have a lazy Sunday morning for once. I think I needed the rest. Then R and I headed over to the hardware store to pick up a few things.
One of my upcoming projects is to construct a worm bin in the shape of a bench, such as the one described on Seattle Tilth's composting page (see "Worm Bin Plans"). As the first step, I picked up a couple of tools, including a chisel, a rip saw, and a 2" wood core drill bit. I need to figure out a way to get another piece of plywood home before I can start to build the thing, but the plan looks pretty simple. Mostly, I was excited to finally get to buy my very own first saw, because I haven't sawed anything in quite a long time.
After that, we came home and I mowed the lawn, looked up information on making jam, and planted my six-foot Organ Pipe cactus in the ground, at last.
All I can say is, I don't know how people can live in houses and be parents all at the same time.
