A lengthy rain
Jan. 27th, 2008 04:30 pmBy now, Phoenicians will have noted the day's rain, which has obscured knowledge of sunrise and sunset, and has made the ground rather wet. Altogether pleasing.
I set out this morning to work on my dissertation proposal, and so I have managed to catch up on a bit of written correspondence and finish grading. And now I am cooking things, for one must eat. In the midst of things, I visited Three Roots and engaged in a lively discussion on academia, an event which is definitely not conducive to proposal-writing.
Perhaps I will read Murakami instead. Now that I've begun the book, it has popped up everywhere--at someone's house, in an overheard conversation at the coffeeshop. And no wonder--it is popular among academic circles.
