Rain

This morning, while out rowing on beautifully calm water, I thought about what it's like to row in a steady rain in Seattle. The water turns a flat gray-green, and drops of water hiss on its surface. The swish-plunk of rowing stays the same. It hasn't rained here in a long time, and it never rains in that particular way. When it rains in Seattle, there are fewer boaters out on the lakes. That's my favorite time to row.

I MISSED A PHONE CALL FROM MY SISTER! THE ONE TIME I IGNORE MY DAMN PHONE, SHE CALLS!

I REALLY need to talk to her for a hundred and one little reasons that are incomprehensible to the rest of the universe. You might understand anyway.

Grr!
