I brought some markers and index cards to Scrabble on Wednesday because I needed to draw some little certificates for M and K to commemorate our double-ascension of South Mountain a few weeks ago. Of course, the markers made my fellow Scrabble players curious, and so I thought it would be fun to share pens and paper so everyone could draw. And it was. We didn't create any masterpieces, but a Pointless Pointilist Postcard did result, which I consider to be a brilliant concept piece. Oh, my apologies to D, who did draw a picture of a Scrabble God, which some might consider to be a masterpiece. In the least, it's a piece of whimsy.
The fun with drawing reminded us of various arts'n'crafts projects that we all have waiting in the wings--projects ranging from painting flowerpots to sewing this or that to painting long-overdue paintings (ahem, self).
Sometimes I get incredibly excited about these projects--I have so many art supplies sitting around, begging to be put to use. At other times, they remind me of the passage of time and make me wonder what I'm making of my life.
