Well, that non-training period definitely caught up with me, and now I think I'm in a contest for last place with
madondi. It took me 4:07:33 to run 20 miles, which is impressively slow. If you are not impressed, I will gladly administer a dope-slap.
The hardest parts were:
-trying to decide whether or not to do the run (it was a bit rainy)
-the end part where I was really tired
Getting started was difficult. My Arizonan sensibilities were a bit shocked by the rain, but a quick check of the weather forecast revealed that I could not put off until tomorrow what should be done today. While today's forecast called for scattered showers, tomorrow's called for rain all day. I figured my glasses wouldn't be that useful in the rain, so I ran without them. When I approached the halfway mark, my father, as prearranged, came along on his bike with some halfway-mark provisions. He's the best support squad I've had yet! Apparently he and my mother had discussed whether or not to get me a box of GU for Christmas, though they eventually decided not to do so. But it's the thought that counts. Towards the end of the run, the rain started making my feet all squishy, and I got tired. But I did it. Hopefully I am now prepared enough to run the full marathon in 2 weeks. Hopefully. I definitely feel like I'm cutting things a bit close, but that's life.
Okay, time to curl up in a little ball for a nice nap.
